Kettle is a casual restaurant located at Shangri-La’s East Wing. They serve comfort food and is known for their buttermilk fried chicken. We are here to try it out!

We started with salad first.

KETTLE HOUSE SALAD ( Php 379)

Kettle’s house salad is simple: Greens, nuts and dressing. This is just okay.

CLAM CHOWDER ( Php 259)

We asked our clam chowder to split for two persons to share. This is why the sourdough bread and the soup were served separately. The creamy soup goes well with the bread. Delicious!

TRUFFLE GORGONZOLA ( Php 299)

The pasta was al dente and has a light creamy flavor. I prefer a stronger smell of truffle.

U.S. ANGUS SHORT RIBS ( Php 539)

Braised in cervesa negra and chipotle barbecue sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw

The ribs are tender and has a sweet and strong barbecue flavor. The mashed potato is creamy and addicting.

BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN ( Php 559)

Honey glazed cornbread, country gravy, cajun honey

This is their claim to be the bestseller: Two huge Southern fried chickens with 3 cornbread. The chicken is crunchy and juicy, but it would be better if it has more seasoning to add the flavor inside. Maybe the spicy version will be tastier.

KETTLE GRILLED FOUR CHEESE ( Php 369)

English loaf, gruyere/fontina/cheddar/parmesan, sweet tomato jam, basil crunch

The grilled cheese sandwich is the star for me! Very cheesy and there is a hint of sweetness in their tomato jam. Yummy! One of the best grilled cheeses I had!

Overall, I am satisfied with my stay in Kettle. The serving size is good to share. The buttermilk fried chicken for me didn’t really stand out as to what others are raving about. I’ll visit the place again and order their grilled cheese sandwich. I will also try their oven roasted squash soup and pork & potato strips!
