Alqueria is a Spanish cuisine located at SM Megamall’s Fashion hall beside Ooma. It was formerly named Boqueria and is under the Sumo Sam Group of restaurants with some celebrities like Mylene Dizon, Agot Isidro, Charo Santos and Liz Uy.
The restaurant has an open kitchen concept where in you can see the chef cooking and preparing the food.
Sopa Cocido
Hearty stew-like soup simmered slowly with chickpeas, chorizo ham and angel hair pasta
The soup can be shared by two persons. The soup is new to my taste and I like it 🙂
SALPICAO
Cubes of sauteed imported tenderloin marinated with garlic, Spanish paprika and olive oil.
I am always searching for a good salpicao, and I can say this is one of them. The tenderloin is cooked perfectly and yummy in every bite with a garlic taste. It’s a bit pricey though.
They were kind enough to give us extra bread and butter.
PAELLA VALENCIANA
Simmered rice in saffron-infused stock topped with clams, mussels, shrimps and chicken.
Alqueria is known for their paellas. They offer a wide selection of paellas from seafood, pork spareribs, chorizo with melted manchego cheese and many more. We ordered their medium sized Paella Valenciana, which is good for 4-5 persons. The paella is flavorful, indeed one of the best I had.
POLLO IBERICO
Slow roasted chicken leg quarter, with chorizo, sweet peppers in olive oil and white wine.
This dish reminded me of Chicken Pochero.
Final Verdict:
Spanish cuisine isn’t really my favorite, but I enjoyed my stay here. The seats are very comfortable and the place is nice for gatherings with family and friends. I recommend to try their paellas because it’s their specialty. You can choose different kinds of paellas depending on your preference. I heard that their churros is good. I’ll try it next time when I go back 🙂
