Originating in BF Homes, Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen now has an extended branch conveniently located in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City in U.P. Town Center. I’m so excited because I have already heard good reviews way back but didn’t really have the chance to go south.
Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen is a casual dining restaurant that serves authentic Italian dishes. It was exactly lunch time when we arrived so we are already 6th in the line waiting. We went around the mall first, but after 15-20mins, our table is ready.
Because the restaurant is inside the mall, the space is limited compared to their branch in BF Homes.
It was hard choosing what to order because everything on the menu looks tempting and appetizing. We are overwhelmed and I think we ordered more than what we should.
We are given bread with tomato and pesto sauce
MOZZARELLA STICKS ( Php 180)
I like the ooey gooey mozzarella and the breading!
MUSHROOM SOUP SMALL ( Php 165)
We asked the soup to be split into two. This is so creamy with lots of mushroom bits! This is a must order!
RISOTTO TARTUFO FUNGHI ( Php 325)
I could smell the truffle upon serving, But after tasting it, it kind of lacks flavor. It’s very creamy and milky for my liking. I still prefer La Grotta‘s.
MAMA LOU’S PIZZA SMALL ( Php 350)
12″ thin crust pizza… I should have ordered the one with meat
BOTTOMLESS ( Php 85) AND STRAWBERRY ICE TEA ( Php 80)
FINAL VERDICT:
Mama Lou offers authentic Italian cuisine but in an affordable way. The place is casually designed unlike other Italian restaurants which have an intimate ambiance. It’s perfect for family occasions or treats with friends because the portions are good to share with reasonable price. I recommend the mozzarella stick and the mushroom soup is definitely worth it! For the pizza, I prefer the toppings with meat to add the flavor. I will try their pasta on my next visit!
