It’s very rare that I find Filipino dish something unique and something I would crave and go back to. Not until I try Locavore which is located in Brixton street, Kapitolyo.

It was when I heard that Locavore is a must visit Filipino restaurant when we decided to try this place. The place is very simple and has an al fresco dining area.

Here are some of their interesting dishes:

STREET FOOD PLATTER ( Php 180)

locavore-800x600
Fish, Squid, Kikiam, Kwek-kwek with Manong’s sauce, sweet chili and honey vinegar onion

This is an interesting appetizer to start our meal with. If you are a fan of eating street food, this will remind you the good old days. Though I still prefer my suki’s fish ball sauce, this version is also good. I like to mix the Manong’s sauce and sweet chili.

GISING GISING ( Php 260)

locavore-3-800x600
Sigarilyas, french beans, shallot and garlic confit, gata, spring onion

I appreciate the vegetables in here!

FRIED OYSTER SISIG ( Php 350)

locavore-4-800x600

A must order! It was my first time to try oyster sisig and I love it! It’s crunchy, sizzling hot and has mayo! Very addicting!

SIZZLING SINIGANG ( Php 475)

locavore-5-800x600
Beef short ribs, sauteed french beans, sampaloc gravy and garlic confit

This is one of the recommended dishes because it’s their best seller. The name itself is so unique which makes everyone very curious. It’s like a sizzling bulalo steak, but the gravy has a hint of sourness because of the sampaloc.

GINATAANG KALDERETA ( Php 520)

locavore-6-800x600
Beef Short Ribs, sauteed french beans, stewed tomatoes, marble potato, cheese, gata, garlic and shallot confit

SUGPO CON MAYONESA ( Php 585)

Jumbo Black Tiger Prawns, aligue, garlic, butter, Japanese Mayonnaise

This is also a must order. It was so good. It was cooked differently from the usual restaurant we eat. Delicious!

How can we skip dessert? Everything was so good!

PANDESAL PUDDING ( Php 165)

locavore-8-800x600
Custard, Pandesal, Cheese, Salted Egg Dulce de Leche

TURON CON LECHE ( Php 200)

locavore-9-800x600

FINAL VERDICT:

This is a must visit for those who are craving for Filipino food. It isn’t your typical Filipino dish because everything has a twist which makes it very appetizing. Everything we ordered was delicious! Not to mention, the Oyster Sisig and the Sugpo Con Mayonesa are the recommended dishes. Their desserts are also amazing!
